The House of Sacred Groves is an independent villa, designed for a client whose fondness for nature, environs and sustainability matched ours! The site is home to 25 trees, each over 20-30 years old. As an environmentally conscious design practice, we have carefully integrated the trees into our design paradigm. Every space in the residence is designed around/along/amidst a tree, preventing the need of cutting down any. An expansive living space is situated centrally amidst two courtyards. Two wings of spaces on either side of the living, accommodate other spaces of the residence, each designed uniquely with its own landscaped grove. Locally sourced natural stone has been used to create an envelop that forms the façade of the residence- taking in natural light and shade artfully into each of the groves.
