Vista Vikhroli

As part of the MCGM – WRI organised Mumbai Street Lab, our entry “Vista Vikhroli” was shortlisted amongst the 3 best national entries for the design of Vikhroli Park Site Road 7. The street design proposed re-envisioned this connector as a Vista, that equally prioritised the movement of people and vehicles. A central spine runs through the length of the street and is divided into 7 zones. Each zone is designed and provisioned with public space experiences that respond to the existing uses and users on either side of the street. As a non-signalised connector, raised intersections are proposed to reduce the speeds of vehicular movement. A careful analysis of the existing vehicular usage on the streets, frames the allocation of parking provisions for private cars, mechanic repair, auto-rickshaws and two-wheelers.
